Dua Lipa was born on 22nd August 1995 in London, the United Kingdom. She decided to sign to Warner Bros Records in 2014 following her work as a model and released her self-titled debut album in the year 2017. The album peaked at the top spot at No. 3 on the U.K. Charts. There were eight singles released including Be the 1 I.D.G.A.F., and New Rules. In the United States it peaked as sixth in the charts. Lipa has been awarded the Brit Awards for British Female solo artist and British breakout act in the year 2018. Her album was certified platinum in the world. Her parents are Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha and Dukagjin Lipa. Through her maternal grandmother, she has Bosnian descent. Her family tree can be tracked back to the Kosovo cities of Peja. Lipa's two grandfathers both were historians. Her brother is Gjin Lipa and a sister Rina. Lipa learned to play the guitar as well as sing under the guidance of her dad Oda. Oda is the leader singer/guitarist for Kosovan's band Oda. Her musical influences were derived from her father's music, which included his compositions as well as songs like David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics Stereophonics. Lipa began singing when she was five years old. At the age of nine years old, Lipa started singing at the Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa has covered If I Am Not Got You and Beautiful from Christina Aguilera and posted it on YouTube. Lipa was offered a recording contract from Warner Bros. Records in 2014. Her debut song New Love was released on August 15, 2015.
